Development partnerships

Programmes that connect East African growers to markets

Konza Tropicals Limited is a private company, not a charity. We deliver market-linked programmes for development agencies, foundations and public bodies as an implementing partner or technical consultant, and we keep that work separate from our commercial investments. We do not solicit donations and we are not a tax-exempt organisation.

What we deliver

Programme areas where we have a track record

Drawn from our consultancy work since 2023 and our own export operations: more than 30 first-time exporters taken to their first shipment and eight avocado oil processors set up, certified or linked to buyers across Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi.

Market access

Farmer and SME market access

Export readiness assessments, buyer matchmaking at international fairs, offer and contract coaching, and first-shipment support for cooperatives, aggregators and young exporters.

Training

Training and coaching

Harvest maturity and dry matter testing, grading and packing, GLOBALG.A.P. and GRASP preparation, export documentation, costing and trade finance literacy.

Post-harvest

Post-harvest loss reduction

Harvest scheduling, field handling, pre-cooling and cold chain, and a market for oil-grade fruit so that fruit outside fresh export grade is processed rather than lost.

Quality

Quality and traceability systems

Grower registers, lot coding, residue testing programmes and independent preloading inspection, as described on our quality and traceability page.

Inclusion

Inclusive sourcing

Farm-gate payment for every grade, free harvesting by trained crews, and sourcing from smallholder and youth-led groups alongside commercial orchards.

Value addition

Value addition and residue use

Avocado oil processing set-up and certification, and compost from pressing residues returned to supplying farms. Other residue uses are described only once technically validated.

How we structure a programme

What every programme document contains

Problem and baselineThe constraint being addressed and the measured starting point, collected before activities begin.
Geography and participantsCounties, districts and the groups involved, with participant counts reported as measured, not estimated.
Activities and delivery teamWho does what, when, and the local partners involved.
Budget and co-fundingPublished only when the funder approves publication.
SafeguardsChild labour, gender, environmental and data protection safeguards appropriate to the funder's policies.
Monitoring and resultsTargets and measured results side by side; we do not report achievements that have not been measured.
Legal recipientKonza Tropicals Limited contracts as a service provider or implementing partner. Where a programme needs a non-profit recipient, we work with an eligible partner organisation.

Case studies with programme names, participant numbers and results are published here once the relevant funder and participants have approved publication.
