What European importers buy from us

Europe is the largest market for Kenyan avocados and the one we know best. Our Hass goes to importers and ripening specialists in the Netherlands, Germany, France, Spain, Italy and Belgium, both direct and through our partner platform SAFTA, Fruit Trade Assistance. Around the avocado programme we add mango and pineapple by sea, fresh herbs and chillies by air, and avocado oil, dried fruit, frozen avocado, macadamia and purees for food manufacturers and private label brands.

Questions buyers ask

Before you request an offer for Europe

Which European ports do you ship Kenyan avocados to?

Rotterdam and Antwerp are our main discharge ports, with regular loadings to Algeciras, Valencia and Marseille for Spanish, French and Italian customers and to Hamburg for Germany and Poland.

Are Kenyan avocados duty free in the EU?

Yes. Under the Kenya–EU Economic Partnership Agreement Kenyan fruit, vegetables, nuts and avocado oil enter the European Union duty free and quota free with proof of origin issued per shipment.

What dry matter do you ship to Europe?

Kenyan Hass is harvested at 24% dry matter and above for the European market, tested in the orchard before harvest and again at the packhouse, with results on the preloading QC report.

Can you supply ripened or ready to eat programmes?

We supply green hard fruit for ripening in Europe and work with ripening specialists in the Netherlands, Germany and Spain; through SAFTA we can also deliver DAP to the ripening centre.

How do we see the quality before the container sails?

Fruit Quality Studio Africa, the Kenyan arm of Quality Studio Europe, inspects every consignment at the packhouse and issues a preloading QC report on dry matter, defects, sizing and pulp temperature, which we share with you before the vessel departs.

Can you start with a trial order?

Yes. Most programmes begin with one container, or a pallet by air for herbs, chillies and samples, before moving to weekly or fortnightly programme volumes.
