How to request an avocado supply programme from Konza Tropicals

By the export team, Konza Tropicals Limited

Export grade Kenyan Hass avocados packed in a crate

A supply programme is a season long arrangement for regular arrivals of fresh avocados against an agreed specification. This guide explains what to send Konza Tropicals, how the offer is built and how the programme is run, so that the first conversation is already a useful one.

What to include in your request

  • Your company, country and role: importer, ripener, wholesaler or distributor.
  • Variety and class, and your size preferences.
  • Carton and pallet format, labelling and any retailer requirements.
  • Indicative volume per shipment and frequency, and the window you want covered.
  • Port of entry and preferred Incoterm.
  • The documentation your importer of record and customers require.

Send it to exports@konzatropicals.com or through the enquiry form.

How the offer is built

We confirm that fresh avocados are eligible for your destination under its plant health requirements, check the request against the typical Kenyan and East African windows, and reply with an offer stating the specification, packing, Incoterm, documents and shipment window. Products are selected, processed and packed to agreed buyer specifications and destination requirements. Samples or a visit to our farm and packhouse can be arranged before a programme is confirmed.

How the programme runs

  • Harvest is planned block by block, with dry matter tested before harvest.
  • Each shipment undergoes preloading quality control at origin. Fruit Quality Studio Africa is our appointed independent quality control partner for preloading inspections at origin. The report reaches you before departure.
  • Pulp temperature is checked at loading and container settings are agreed with you and recorded on the booking.
  • Documents are sent ahead of arrival, and arrival inspection is coordinated between Konza Tropicals and the buyer.
  • Findings feed back into the next harvest and packing decisions.

Sales execution partner

SAFTA, Fruit Trade Assistance, works with Konza Tropicals as a Sales Execution Office partner for fresh avocado programmes. Konza Tropicals remains responsible for the fruit and the paperwork behind it.

Commercial terms

Prices are offered per shipment or fixed for an agreed period, as negotiated. Payment terms are agreed per contract, commonly a deposit with the balance against documents, a documentary letter of credit for new relationships, or open account for established programmes.
