Avocado oil

Bulk avocado oil supplier to Europe: crude for refiners, extra virgin and refined for brands

Europe refines, bottles and formulates more avocado oil every year, and most of it is imported. Konza Tropicals processes, refines, packs and exports avocado oil from East African fruit and supplies European refiners, bottlers, food brands, food service distributors and cosmetic ingredient buyers in Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Germany, France, Portugal, the United Kingdom and the Nordics, in flexitanks, drums and IBCs, each lot with a batch certificate of analysis.

Buyers

Who buys avocado oil from us in Europe

Refiners in Italy and Spain buy crude oil to refine, bleach and deodorise for their own food and cosmetic customers. Bottlers and olive oil houses add extra virgin avocado oil to their ranges. Food service distributors and private label brands in the Netherlands, Germany, France and the UK buy refined oil for high heat cooking. Natural cosmetics manufacturers across Europe buy refined oil as a carrier and emollient. We supply all of them from our own processing and from the East African processors we have set up, certified and work with, under one specification and one quality programme.

Questions buyers ask

Before you request an avocado oil offer

Which grades of avocado oil do you supply to Europe?

Three grades: crude cold pressed avocado oil for refiners, cold pressed extra virgin avocado oil for food brands and bottlers, and refined, bleached and deodorised (RBD) avocado oil for food service, private label and cosmetics. Each lot ships with a batch certificate of analysis.

How is bulk avocado oil shipped from Kenya to Europe?

Crude and refined oil ship in food grade flexitanks of 20 to 22 tonnes in a 20 ft container, or in 190 kg drums and 1,000 litre IBCs for smaller lots and extra virgin oil; by sea from Mombasa to Rotterdam, Genoa, Valencia, Hamburg, Marseille Fos or Felixstowe, or EXW from our packing site.

Is Kenyan avocado oil duty free in the EU?

Yes. Avocado oil (HS 1515 90) of Kenyan origin enters the European Union duty free and quota free under the Kenya and EU Economic Partnership Agreement with a EUR.1 movement certificate; the United Kingdom applies the same under the UK and Kenya EPA.

What does the certificate of analysis cover?

Free fatty acid, peroxide value, moisture and volatile matter, insoluble impurities, colour and, where required, fatty acid profile and contaminants, tested per batch by our laboratory or an accredited third party at the buyer's request.

Can we have samples before ordering a flexitank?

Yes. We courier retained samples of the batch offered, typically 250 ml to 1 litre, so your laboratory can run its own analysis before you confirm the lot.

Do you supply organic or cosmetic grade avocado oil?

Organic certified oil is available on programme volumes from certified fruit; refined oil for cosmetics is supplied against the buyer's specification with the COA and documentation their formulators require.

What minimum order applies?

Crude and refined oil from one flexitank (about 20 tonnes) or a part load of drums or IBCs from one pallet; extra virgin oil from one pallet of drums or IBCs. Multi year offtake contracts are welcome and can anchor processing investment.
