Export markets

Kenyan avocado exporter to Turkey

Turkey grows Hass along the Mediterranean coast around Antalya, Alanya and Mersin from November to April and imports in the summer, and Turkish consumption has grown faster than almost any market in the region. We supply Turkish importers, wholesalers at the Istanbul and Antalya markets, retail chains and food service distributors with Class 1 Hass and Green skin avocados from May to October through Mersin and Istanbul, and we supply avocado oil, dried mango, macadamia and purees to Turkish food, cosmetics and confectionery manufacturers all year. Istanbul is also the gateway through which Turkish traders re export to Central Asia and the Caucasus.

Buyers

Built for Turkish importers, wholesalers, retail chains and re exporters

Turkish buyers know avocados from their own Mediterranean orchards and expect imports to ripen evenly, size cleanly and clear customs without surprises. Istanbul and Mersin importers want a summer origin that competes with Peru and South Africa on price and beats them on transit; Turkish re exporters want documentation that works for Georgia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. Our own 200 hectare plantation and registered partner orchards give us the summer volume, independent preloading inspection on every consignment gives your quality team the data before the vessel sails, and SAFTA, Fruit Trade Assistance, our partner Sales Execution Office in Antwerp, Belgium, supports fixed price programmes.

Questions buyers ask

Before you request an offer for Turkey

When does Turkey import Kenyan avocados?

Turkish Hass from Antalya, Alanya and Mersin is harvested from about November to April. Imports run from May to October, which is the Kenyan peak, so Kenyan Hass is the natural summer supply for Turkish importers and retail chains.

How fast does fruit reach Mersin?

Sixteen to twenty days from Mombasa through the Red Sea and Suez, several days ahead of Peruvian or South African fruit, and twenty to twenty four days to Istanbul or Izmir.

What import permits does Turkey require?

Turkish importers obtain the import control document through the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry system before arrival. We supply the phytosanitary certificate, certificate of origin and exporter registrations the application needs, and we have the documentation ready before the vessel sails.

Can Turkish traders re export Kenyan avocados to Central Asia?

Yes. We prepare the certificate of origin and phytosanitary documentation Turkish re exporters need for Georgia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, and we can also load direct to Poti or Novorossiysk; see our Russia and Eastern Europe pages.

How do we see the quality before the container sails?

Fruit Quality Studio Africa, the Kenyan arm of Quality Studio Europe, inspects every consignment at the packhouse and issues a preloading QC report on dry matter, defects, sizing and pulp temperature, which we share with you before the vessel departs.

Can you start with a trial order?

Yes. Most programmes for Turkey begin with one container to Mersin, or a pallet by air for herbs, chillies and samples, before moving to fortnightly or weekly programme volumes.
