Export markets

Kenyan avocado exporter to Egypt

Egypt is the closest large market to Kenya that most exporters overlook. Ain Sokhna on the Red Sea is 8 to 12 days from Mombasa, Kenya and Egypt are both members of the COMESA Free Trade Area so Kenyan produce enters duty free with a COMESA certificate of origin, and Egypt's 110 million consumers, hotels and food manufacturers are buying more avocados every year while domestic production is still small. We supply Egyptian importers, wholesalers at El Obour market, retail chains and processors in Cairo and Alexandria with Class 1 Hass avocados, avocado oil, dried mango, macadamia and purees.

Buyers

Built for Egyptian importers, El Obour wholesalers, hotels and processors

Egyptian buyers want a short, predictable supply line, duty free entry and documents that clear without delay at Sokhna, Port Said or Alexandria. Egypt's own avocado plantings are young and seasonal, so importers need a reliable year round origin; Kenyan Hass covers April to October and Tanzanian Hass November to March from the same team. Our own 200 hectare plantation and registered partner orchards give us the volume, independent preloading inspection on every consignment gives your quality team the data before the vessel sails, and our Arabic language pages support Egyptian buying teams.

Questions buyers ask

Before you request an offer for Egypt

Is Kenyan fruit really duty free in Egypt?

Yes. Kenya and Egypt are both members of the COMESA Free Trade Area, so Kenyan origin fresh produce and value added products enter Egypt free of customs duty with a COMESA certificate of origin issued for each shipment; VAT and port fees still apply as your broker confirms.

How fast does fruit reach Egypt?

Eight to twelve days from Mombasa to Ain Sokhna on the Red Sea, the shortest transit of any market we serve by sea, and twelve to sixteen days to Port Said or Alexandria.

Do you supply avocados all year to Egypt?

Yes. Kenyan Hass covers April to October and Tanzanian Hass covers November to March from the same team and specification, so Egyptian importers can run one programme all year.

Can you supply dried mango and avocado oil for Egyptian brands?

Yes. Dried mango without added sugar or sulphites in bulk cartons or retail packs under your label, and avocado oil in drums, IBCs or flexitanks with a batch certificate of analysis, both ship in dry containers all year.

How do we see the quality before the container sails?

Fruit Quality Studio Africa, the Kenyan arm of Quality Studio Europe, inspects every consignment at the packhouse and issues a preloading QC report on dry matter, defects, sizing and pulp temperature, which we share with you before the vessel departs.

Can you start with a trial order?

Yes. Most programmes for Egypt begin with one container to Ain Sokhna, or a pallet by air for herbs, chillies and samples, before moving to fortnightly or weekly programme volumes.
