Buyers of avocado oil, dried fruit and purees often ask whether a product is organic as if it were a property of the supplier. It is a property of a lot and its supply chain, proven by documents. This guide explains how Konza Tropicals handles conventional and organic documentation.
Organic status belongs to the lot
A lot is organic when every step of its supply chain, from the certified farms through processing and handling, is covered by valid organic certification under the standard the destination market recognises, and the lot is documented accordingly. The same supplier can offer conventional and organic lots of the same product. Konza Tropicals offers conventional and organic options as applicable to the specific lot, and never describes a lot as organic unless its certification documentation supports it.
Organic and extra virgin are different attributes
Extra virgin describes how avocado oil is made: mechanically extracted, cold pressed and not refined. Organic describes how the fruit was grown and the chain was managed. An oil can be extra virgin and conventional, crude and organic, or any other combination. Buyers should specify both attributes separately.
Documents for a conventional lot
- Product specification agreed with the buyer.
- Certificate of analysis or quality documentation for the lot.
- Food safety documentation required by the destination.
- Commercial invoice, packing list, transport document and certificate of origin where required.
- Preloading quality control report.
Additional documents for an organic lot
- Valid organic certificates for the certified operators in the chain, naming the products and scope.
- Import documentation required by the destination's organic rules, arranged with the importer.
- Lot level traceability linking the shipped goods to the certified chain.
How buyers verify
Ask for the certificates with the offer, check the certifying body, scope, validity dates and products named, and confirm with your importer of record which organic import documentation your market requires. Konza Tropicals shares these documents privately with the offer rather than publishing certificate details.
How Konza Tropicals handles it
Conventional and organic lots are documented separately and never mixed in description or paperwork. Konza Tropicals provides an internal certificate of analysis for each avocado oil lot. External laboratory testing or buyer testing can also be arranged according to agreed requirements. Every shipment undergoes preloading quality control at origin. Fruit Quality Studio Africa is our appointed independent quality control partner for preloading inspections at origin, and the preloading report is shared with the buyer. Arrival inspection is coordinated between Konza Tropicals and the buyer.
